How we work together

Every consultation begins with understanding — not the symptom, the system.

Your constitution. Your current imbalances. Your digestion. Your history. Your life. From there, a protocol tailored to your body: diet, herbs, lifestyle adjustments, and ongoing support. Everything reviewed. Everything connected. Nothing generic.

Constitutional

We begin with your prakruti — the constitution you were born with — and your vikruti, the imbalances of right now. Two patients with the same complaint rarely receive the same protocol.

Root-cause

Symptoms are signals. We follow them back to the digestion, the lifestyle, the seasonal and emotional patterns that produce them — and address those first. The signs follow.

Continuous

One assessment is not a treatment. Your protocol is refined over time through follow-up consultations — adjusted to how your body is actually responding, season by season.

The options

Two ways into
the practice.

Every new patient begins with the Comprehensive Consultation. Once you are under our care, the Follow-Up Consultation carries your protocol forward.

From the moment you book your Comprehensive Consultation, through the first year of follow-up care.

01Step

Intake form

Once you book your Comprehensive Consultation, you complete a detailed health intake form. This ensures our session time is spent on you, not paperwork — and gives Dr. Arlini Singh the context to come into the room already listening.

Frequently asked

Questions, answered.

If you don't see your question here, write to us — we read every email and reply within two working days.

01

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

No referral is required. You can book a Comprehensive Consultation directly. We do, however, ask for a full medical history on the patient intake form — including any conditions you are being followed for and any medications you are taking — so that the protocol we recommend complements, rather than conflicts with, the care you are already receiving.

Ayurvedic consultations do not replace primary care. Where appropriate, we collaborate with your family physician.

02

What is the difference between the Comprehensive and the Follow-Up Consultation?

The Comprehensive Consultation is where every new patient begins. It is a three-hour, two-part assessment: a two-hour intake, then a one-hour Report of Findings two weeks later, where Dr. Arlini Singh walks you through your constitution, the root causes of your concerns, and the personalised protocol we recommend.

The Follow-Up Consultation is one hour, single session, for patients already under our care. It is where the protocol is refined as your body responds.

03

Is this covered by OHIP or private insurance?

Ayurvedic consultations are not covered by OHIP. Some insurance companies do offer extended healthcare benefits that may cover Ayurveda. You would need to check with your insurance company to confirm if you are covered. Every patient is emailed a detailed invoice and receipt after every consultation to claim for reimbursements.

04

Are online consultations as clinically rigorous as in-person?

Yes. The intake form is identical, the time we spend with you is identical, and the protocol we recommend is identical. Traditional Ayurvedic diagnostics — observation, history-taking, and the qualitative reading of the tongue and complexion — translate well to video.

05

Can Ayurveda be used alongside my conventional medicine?

In most cases, yes — and most of our patients do exactly that. A-YUR-VEDA operates as an integrated clinic alongside Dr. Kishore Singh, MD, at Appleby Medical Centre, where conventional medicine and Ayurvedic care work together. Dr. Arlini Singh carries both a doctorate in Ayurveda and a legal background, and is deliberate about flagging any interaction between Ayurvedic recommendations and your existing prescriptions. Where there is a question, we will tell you, and we will write to your physician with your permission.

06

Will herbs be recommended? Where do I get them?

Most protocols include herbal recommendations alongside diet and lifestyle adjustments. We source formulations from trusted suppliers. For overseas patients, we recommend reputable Ayurvedic dispensaries in your region and provide guidance on what to look for on the label.

07

How often will I need to follow up?

The typical cadence is weekly for the first few weeks — when the recommendations are introduced and we observe how your body is responding. Once the early changes hold and improvement is established, we move to bi-weekly, then monthly thereafter as the protocol settles into your life. This is a strong clinical recommendation; in practice, patients adjust the cadence to their season, their travel, and their progress.

08

What is your cancellation policy?

We ask for 48 hours' notice for any cancellation or reschedule, so the time can be offered to another patient. Late cancellations are charged a $75 fee. Genuine emergencies are handled with discretion — call the clinic and we will work it out.

The invitation

Begin when you are ready.

Healing does not begin with hurry.

It begins with the decision to understand what your body is actually telling you — and to act on it. The Comprehensive Consultation is where every new patient begins; the Follow-Up Consultation carries the protocol forward, week by week, season by season.

You leave with a plan. One that is yours.
