Tomorrow, spring arrives.
Not the dramatic kind of arrival—more like a quiet knock at the door.
You might feel it before you see it: a little more light in the morning, a subtle restlessness in the body, a desire to “clear things out".
Many people notice they suddenly want to tidy their home, simplify their meals, or start moving again—almost as if the body is asking for a reset.

In Ayurveda, that makes perfect sense.
Winter tends to build heaviness: richer foods, slower digestion, more time indoors, more sleep, more stillness.
As the weather begins to warm, that accumulated heaviness can start to melt—like snow turning to slush.
And when that happens inside the body, we can feel it as:
Morning grogginess or brain fog
A coated tongue or bad breath
Sluggish digestion, bloating, or “sticky” stools
Seasonal congestion or post-nasal drip
Low motivation, low mood, or feeling emotionally “stuck”
Ayurveda describes this springtime pattern as a Kapha season shift: the qualities of heavy, slow, cool, damp increase.
This Ayurvedic spring routine is designed to gently reset the body, improve digestion, and restore energy after winter.
So rather than pushing yourself into a strict cleanse or a sudden overhaul, I want to offer something gentler—and more sustainable.
The Ayurvedic Spring Routine: 3 Simple Daily Habits
1) Start your day by creating warmth

Before reaching for coffee or jumping into your day, take a few minutes to gently wake up your body.
In spring, your body naturally carries more heaviness and sluggishness. Rather than forcing energy with caffeine, the goal is to stimulate metabolism gently and consistently.
Try one of these:
A mug of warm water (plain is enough)
Warm water with fresh ginger slices
Warm water with a squeeze of lemon (if it suits you)
Then take 3 minutes to do something that moves energy:
A brisk walk around the house
A few rounds of sun salutations
20 - 30 slow squats
Gentle stretching or twisting
Even simple movement is enought. The goal isn’t a workout - it's a signal to your body:
we're awake, we're moving, digestion is on.
You can also support this routine with herbal teas or digestive formulations that gently digest stimulate metabolism and clear ama.
2) Lighten lunch (not by skipping it)
In spring, digestion often does better with meals that are:
Warm
Cooked
Spiced (gently)
A little lighter than winter meals
A simple spring lunch formula:
A soup or kitchari-style bowl
Cooked vegetables (especially bitter + astringent tastes)
A protein you digest well
Spices like ginger, black pepper, cumin, coriander

If you’re not sure what “bitter/astringent” means in real life, think:
leafy greens
asparagus
broccoli
cabbage
lentils
3) Clear one small thing each day
Spring supports elimination—physically and emotionally.
So choose one small “release” daily:
Clean out one drawer
Say no to one obligation that drains you
Add 10 minutes of earlier bedtime
Small releases add up. Your nervous system notices.
Following an Ayurvedic spring routine helps reduce heaviness, clear ama, and bring the body back into balance.
A quick self-check (Ayurvedic style)
If you’re feeling any of the “Kapha heaviness” signs, try this for 7 days:
Warm water in the morning
10–20 minutes of daily movement (enough to feel warm)
One warm, simple, spiced lunch
Then ask yourself:
Is my mind clearer?
Is my digestion lighter?
Do I feel more motivated?
If yes, you’ve found your spring baseline.
If you're struggling with low energy, poor digestion, or seasonal imbalances, a personalized Ayurvedic plan can make all the difference.
